As I walk to get steps in and promote general health I've found myself listening to Marillion. Especially "A Singles Collection" which was released here in the US as "Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other" Which includes six Fish songs and six Hogarth songs. (Singers)

Today we celebrate the mighty groundhog. This rodent is otherwise known as the woodchuck or whistle pig.

One more for the day. U.K. / U.K. Progressive Rock supergroup with John Wetton (King Crimson) Bill Bruford (Yes, King Crimson), Eddie Jobson (Roxy Music and later Jethro Tull) and the man himself Allan Holdsworth. Just like a lobster knife fight words cannot describe the awesomeness.

Another from my radio days. Brand X - Moroccan Roll with Goodsall, Jones, Lumley, Collins, and Pert. Yes, Phil Collins. I think this shows some of his finest drumming before heading to the pop side.

Another influential album. JLP has always a favorite since I first heard him on Elton John's Honky Chateau album. Enigmatic Ocean had heavy rotation on my radio show on WICR-FM in the mid-later 70s. This was also the first time I heard Allan Holdsworth.

I haven’t forgotten about the podcast, I’ve been up to my neck in evaluation reports.

How long before they come for the academics and force me to teach science from a xtain perspective? Yes, I could retire, but as Paulo Freire teaches, ignoring the problem is to side with the oppressors. I cannot be neutral.

It seems that in only a week we found out it was never about the price of eggs or gasoline, but rather an assault on human rights. I fear for my friends who were not born in this country as well as those friends who are viewed by the orange one as unworthy of love and respect.

Another head scratcher. Jazz? Rock? Latin? Fusion? Al himself called it "progressive Latin rock" I won't argue with the Maestro.

Wired. I love this record. Jazz? Rock? I know! Let's call it fusion!

The first time I played with other musicians after my father passed we did a marathon version of "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" Lovely tones and great playing.

I've seen one of my friends posting about influential songs/albums and I must start my own list. I first heard "Day Tripper" on Mike Summers' parent's console stereo when the record was new. I was hooked by the guitar riff. From then on I wanted to play guitar.

More to come.

Did the war in Ukraine end? Did I miss it? Should I expect groceries to be 25% cheaper today? Are they still fighting in the Middle East?
January 21, 2025 at 2:14 PM
I kept a list of all the promises the orange one made for day one. We shall see if the horror begins or if we have more lies and grifting.

This photo was taken 50 years ago today. My college roommate Kip Payton turning 19 years old. I visited him last Saturday and I can honestly say we are not the people we were then. (Thank goodness!)
Happy birthday old boy.
