This is the only thing called a tourtière.
A fully cooked tourtière on a stove top. This is a large deep dish meat pie in an orange dish. Some may call it tourtière du Lac-St-Jean but the precision is unnecessary, there is no other kind A portion of tourtière with beets on a white plate on a red tablecloth with a grid pattern that has fleur de lys patterns at the intersections. There are 2 inteewoven grids, one green, one champagne colored. Tourtière is a deepdish pie with diced potatoes and meat, with pork, beef and hare. There is also broth and pieces of onion.

Slice of pumpkin pie on a small white dessert place itself on a flowery placemat (mostly poppies, orange and red, with some leaves and smaller daisies in between). You can't tell by looking at it but the pumpkin spice blend is based on older recipes that contain no cinnammon.

Once again, stiff sourdough starter is the way to go. Mine survived a 2 day trip from California to Québec and was just used for this 70% local whole wheat loaf. Poorly cut cuz the bread knife I have here is too short.

The scoring is cross-shaped, the bread has been dusted with brown rice flour still should the pattern of the cloth used during final proofing. The same 70% whole wheat sourdough loaf cross-section cut, showing a decently open crumb which may have been slightly overproofed. The loaf is poorly cut due to the short breadknife whose blade is visible on the right. There is a large wicker coaster on the upper left corner, sun/flower shaped wavy petals that have a dark color wicker behind the last layer. The bread is on a white plastic cutting board with black anti-slip strips on both ends. There is a smaller cutting board of a similar make ont he right, all atop a grey marble counter.

It's September so time for apple pie. Yes, the dark spots are flax seeds cuz I'm moving in 3 weeks and I'm emptying my cupboards as much as possible.

It's that time of the year again, I will wait until tomorrow as I have a can of Sierra Nevada Octoberfest beer to drink first. Since I'm moving out of the country in 3 weeks, this may be my last Elysian pumpkin pack. The Great Pumpkin is the best, followed by Night Owl.

I was short on powdered sugar so I had to go to the grocery store at 8pm to finish making this cake's frosting. Had a late dessert.

I thought Sierra Nevada's Summerfest Lager was just OK so I used the last can to make sourdough bread. It's a little lop-sided cuz I put a lot of seeds in it, the hydration was high and I did not bother to do extra stretch and folds or coil folds.

It has a high seed content of clearly visible pumpkin, less conspicuous sunflower and basically invisible flax seeds The cross-section of the sourdough loaf with both halves side by side on a white plastic (Ikea) cutting board. The crumb shows many bubbles of varying size, but none are very big. The ear is more noticeable on the right side, and we clearly see the high seed content (25%) with a decent amount of whole wheat and a slight yellow tinge from Khorasan wheat flour.
