Ever wondered how a touch device knows you are touching it?

Making Software by Dan Hollick gives you answer to software and design things that look obvious, but aren’t.

→ Illustrations look so neat.

Prototyping nowadays /

👋 With one hand (or mind), design some initial screens, prototype it, prompt, wait, do it again, iterate.

🤲🏼 With the other hand, wait until your tools designs your product and do:

→Life admin

→Read an article

→ Scan the news

→Reply to friends texts

One of the questions I heard lately

How much do you consume content about AI and how much do you actually use it?

Thoughts on how I do this 🧵

In our organisation, in order to ship features, we use three different concepts in order to organise, shape and decide on what we need to do.

⬇️ This is how we do that ⬇️

Craft.

🧶 One aspect is the attention (and your eye for detail).

📐 Also known as aligning titles, tab buttons (and their hover states) with numeric indicators.

I have been ‘raised’ with no wireframing (agency)

- It doesn’t emphasise with people’s imagination
- Doesn’t work with content
- Clients don’t understand it
- Easy to use existing components.
- You have to design twice.

However, with AI building and work in product teams, wireframing is back.

Always nice to do some work on new color schemes for traffic lights, errors, information, scores and positive and negative charts.

Now using Tailwind CSS UIColors app, Figma internal color gradient tool and Contrast Tool.

What’s your color challenge?

Usually not a massive fan of a brand positioning and messaging, if the product is not of value or not solving problems. However, with AI models, it's the other way around.

✋ Everyone is shouting about it, but does anyone actually know the difference between 3.5 Sonnet & GPT4o?

⚜️ Reposition it

Working on my personal website in Figma Sites!

Goal is to create a simple, referenceable place on the web, so I can share thoughts, ideas, projects, content and links to other places on the web where I represent myself!

That one piece of design that no one ever thinks about, but everyone knows about: Sick bags.

Why?
🍿 Extremly humble, but useful
1️⃣ Probably you used it at least once
✈️ Useful for all kinds of reasons while on-the-go.

There are tons of people collecting it (serious).

Playing around with Imagen 3 in Gemini, to create nice product shots of analog film 'newly used'.

Nice touches & so clear and done in 15 mins (or 6 iterations).

→ Don’t forget.

90% of organizations are relying on spreadsheets and similar tools for vital business data.

→ And those spreadsheets are:
Hard to reuse
Hard to share
Hard to scale
Hard to integrate.

→ So, even if your product & UX iterations are small, it’s probably helping business massively.

Today's recap for prioritising product improvements

🔂
1. When doing prioritisation in product, ask why it is a priority and where is the evidence coming from.
2. Don't assume that evidence is right, just 'I heared this before'
3. It should be around business goals, ARR, new wins, quantity, quotes.

Since working in supply chain security, I realise how vulnerable you are of internet presence. Plus how vulnerable you make your family, your colleagues & friends.

➡️Simple to do’s
generators for diverse passwords, check senders in email, don’t use sms authentication, but 2 factor authentication

Yes.

Changed my newsletter.

Again.

No more guides or aspirational business stuff.

Just personal & professional experiences, problems, opportunities, ideas and other things on my mind.

📄 I just came across napkin.ai, which does this perfectly. You can change, edit, sketch, or brainstorm with it.
