Closing out my year with a journal editor shocker 🧵

Checking new manuscripts today I reviewed a paper attributing 2 papers to me I did not write. A daft thing for an author to do of course. But intrigued I web searched up one of the titles and that's when it got real weird...

Death sentences are accepted from juries split 10-2 in AL. FL and AL are the only states in the country where deciding to end someone's life based on the majority vote among jurors who failed to reach consensus is considered acceptable.
BREAKING: The Florida Supreme Court upheld Florida’s law, making it the only state to allow juries split 8-4 to sentence people to death.

Permitting non-unanimous, divided juries to sentence people to death is unconstitutional and increases the risk of executing an innocent person.
