With a lower centre of gravity, a stiffer bodyshell, improved gear shift, and enhanced aero cooling, it was designed to dominate. Active differential control gave it razor-sharp precision, and an all-new damper system, developed with EXE-TC, helped the car find grip where others struggled.

On the surface, the Impreza WRC 2000 looked much like its predecessor, but beneath the skin, it was 80% brand new. Its predecessor was an evolution of the Group A car that came before this was a revolution.
