I’m a user experience/web/accessibility librarian by day, bird fanatic by night (and also by day too).
Just a proud dad post. One off to university to be an environmental engineer, the other tearing up the record book for high school track and field.

We have them somewhat commonly in our forested areas. Surprisingly I run into small flocks of them in the winter. Here’s one recent encounter.

Hey, do you like #goodmusic? I saw this guy play at the Six Bells in Cambridge, England and he’s phenomenal. New single out now! #imlac

From May 2023, baby bald eagles don’t get their signature piebald feathers until after their first year. This one has strong Muppet vibes. #birds #baldeagle #birdingillinois

This is the best woodcarving I’ve ever done. I was asked to create something that captured a mother’s grief at losing her adult child in an accident. It was an honor to even try.

Just bringing a few of my all-time favorites with me: a female pileated woodpecker. The second largest American woodpecker if you include the ivorybilled which I still believe is out there somewhere.

Toilets have come to occupy much of my thinking in #userexperience / #ux work from both an accessibility and inclusion frame of reference so I end up awkward photographing toilet setups I like. This is at the botanical garden in Cambridge, England.
Wish it were wheelchair accessible.

A leucistic goldfinch was hanging around my in-laws’ backyard. This is a genetic issue that keeps the melanin from reaching all its feathers. So this normally yellow and black bird is all white except for its light yellow head.
