That, after yesterday’s fireworks, we woke this morning to a police state should be lost on no one.

Big ups, Eric. Read it this morning in bed and have meant to congratulate you all day. This reminded me. Bravo!

John Fuegi's 'Brecht & Co.' is the scathing indictment of a chronic abuser of the women writers whose only way to the market place seemed through him, who they all professed to love. All credit due to Elisabeth Hauptmann, Margarete Steffin and Ruth Berlau for his theatrical works.

A most egregious example and, page-turingly tawdry, is the book I'm reading now: Brecht & Co. John Fuegi. Elisabeth Hauptmann, Margarete Steffin, Marieluise Fleisser, and Ruth Berlau, all responsible for as much as 80% the play's Brecht didn't always start and never finished.
