When you're reading an sff book from another country and the protagonist suddenly pops up at some real location in your country! The Immersion break is such a sweet little treat.
And it so dope the indigenous name for the falls was used here. (Mosi-oa-Tunya)

That Google search for "black science fiction & fantasy authors" that takes you to N.K. Jemisin through to Whole Talabi, and gives you enough gass to write some bold African ish is so insanely real.
I remember clearly Googling ‘Black science fiction & fantasy authors.’ That’s when I discovered N.K. Jemisin, and I read all her work. That really opened my mind to the possibility of writing about characters who looked like me, and showed me that we could exist in this world. I didn’t necessarily have to pander to the white gaze. That realization gave me the confi­dence to pursue these genres, and discover Nnedi Okorafor, Tade Thompson, Octavia E. Butler, and Wole Talabi.

Always humbling to see African Ghost short stories on here. There's nothing like seeing your work in print for the first time, more so when it's along side so many amazing writers. It's especially handy for those days when I'm full of doubt.
