I popped into the local community centre to ask if anyone had a drill to help fix the faulty piece of my desk shelving.
There was a lovely older man who told me to bring the piece in and he did the work for me straight away 😭❤️
I finally have most of my new workshop set up, its coming together.
An in-progress little workshop. The shelves and desk are empty, but the furniture is almost all built.

Pastel pink and blue silk diamonds sewn together, both with floral embroidery and extensive beading embellishment. Between the diamonds are layered gold lace trims with gold stars, beads and crystals.

Lots of little bits of Ardbert finished today.
I'm almost a little sad that this costume may forever go unfinished. I love what I've produced in the past few weeks.

I'll take proper photos next week of the completed tasset/skirt combo.

Ive loved seeing my range develop in such different directions this year.

Embroidery and Leathercraft are so different, but I've enjoyed finding a middle ground between the two mediums.
Hoping to explore this more over the next year.

My thumb hurts from all the hand sewing this week, but I'm almost done the second side of Ardbert's tasset. It's slow, but I love the detail it adds.

Hoping to finish assembly of the bottom layer tomorrow if it's another quiet day.

A piece of hand embroidery and beading for Howl's coat from Howl's Moving Castle. Gold trims and beads with little stars and pearls separate the blue and pink silk diamonds which have floral embroidery enhanced by beads and sequins.

Slow work on the tasset.

Every top stitch is being done by hand. I wasn't happy with how the machine stitches looked on my samples. This way it's also far easier to be precise with the colour changes.

Vanbraces progress.
Working on the left arm first, because this is Final Fantasy- so of course they both are different 😂

Added stitches for a bit of extra texture, since its a lot of black! Really happy with how it's looking.

The seam for the wrap layer will be hidden with the armour section.

New shades of pink beads arrived. It already looks a lot better ❤️

(The colour looks so different in this lighting)

Vanbraces have been started.

They don't look like much yet, but I needed a strong foundation before adding details.
Vanbraces made of vegtan leather, dyed black and with a velcro closure. Plain and sturdy, ready to have the details added.

Skirt

Front panel completed. I'm really happy with the shape and have accepted if I wore this cosplay I wouldn't be able to sit down or I'd crush all my work.

Will start the back next week if I have time before tackling the soft-leather side panels.

Skirt

I began just making 70 scales for his skirt. There are these panels both at the front and back.
Veg tan leather which has been wet formed into pointed scales. Currently un-dyed and is a pale yellow-pink colour. Veg tanned leather pointed scales which have been wet formed and hand dyed. Veg tan leather scales have been dyed, the edges are burnished and are now being assembled into a dragon scale pattern for the front of Ardbert's skirt.
