Here's a tip: if you as a non-expert can't understand the math (in this case, spatial-integral estimation) in a field that you're attempting to critique, then maybe you should shut up at first & learn the basics instead.

Re Vinós, here's the original Fig. 4.4 from his (not peer-reviewed) book showing original Marcott vs. Vinós' homebrew reconstruction; & Vinós' claim that global proxy reconstructions are unreliable, but that he's gonna roll his own completely differently from the experts' methods anyway.

I think the point is to show what's NOT causing the warming.
