Was thinking about Cormac McCarthy when I wrote this

an image post of a poem divine light at sunset (and other tall tales) i saw them crest the peak of the tallest hill as i looked up from below and the sunset bathed them in the most magnificent light like a god or a king or one who came to realise their own divine light was something complete and irrefutable and it was beautiful god it was so beautiful these angels of life and death these men and women and all in between clad in the shame of their ancestors and the weight they carried through the ages the bruises and burnished skin of their fathers and the cries of quiet turmoil and strength of their mothers tangible you could see them rippling like silk in the breeze and catch the light along them they bound them and made them whole made them complete made them something more than the gaps that left by the coldest and most brutal winters these gaps were left an age ago and i saw them crest that hill god it was so beautiful by god it was so beautiful i fell to my knees and struggled to weep i could only push out a tear or two and i inquired with myself as to why ihad needed to cry for months and days and months and days and time caught up with me as it does and always has and im sure always will and in that moment i came to kneelstill and held out my hands to brace to fall but the mud never came to meet them and my hands remained as clean as they've ever been which is to say they were caked in dirt and blood and cum and shame and exile and in that moment my hands were clean and i laughed and laughed for i've never known such a thing to be true as long as i can remember i've never known such a thing and past and present tense got all mixed up again and i was new again and old as i've ever was always and forever and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and i couldn't have believed it more if they'd reached out and tell me it were so and i wept freely like a child

The iconic Duga radar array was part of the Soviet Union's network of early warnings network for defense against ballistic missiles. Another Duga array was also deployed in Siberia, but of course, it hasn't attained the same mythic quality since it's not located in the exclusion zone.
