I am looking forward to starting the semester’s teaching with a survey of the 18th century, amongst other things some of its excesses. It doesn’t get bigger than this c1750 court gown, a display of fabric wealth, acting as a canvas to observers @metcostume.bsky.social #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡
