It’s a non-breeding starling. Beautiful. Stage. Juveniles are a smooth grey brown.

Yes that would be great. I photograph them every day.

Yes it’s been great watching them grow. They should fledge in the next week or so.

You certainly would have seen some interesting sights/creatures in that time. I took this pic while working on NIWA’s Research vessel Tangaroa. Worked about 10 years on Trawlers inside and outside our 200 mile EEZ in the 80’s-90’s as a scientific observer.
