Some kits may B OK. I dislike confinement by a “kit.” Until 1 knows what they like, a whole kit may be a waste of 💰. I loathe following patterns & prefer my own color choices, etc. I use patterns 2 learn techniques but design my own items 99% of the time. Beginners need basics to see what they like.

Kits=💩 IMO but some ppl 💜 them. Get nice/good/cheap 🧶 & QUALITY affordable 4, 5 & 6mm hooks. Clover, Tulip, or Prym. Learning=easier if not fighting fussy fibers. Michaels brand Soft Classic yarn= tight twist, doesn’t split, easy to undo (frog) & try again. Way better than scratchy super saver 🧶.

Best tutorial book, from starting stitches, definitions & descriptions, to advanced stitches. When you understand the mechanics of the stitch & master the techniques you can sculpt anything out of yarn.
