We got Brexit for the same reasons US got Trump. Huge scale de-industrialisation that hollowed out swathes of the nation. 4 decades later entire generations without any real hope, lacking education, etc. Mix in Cambridge analytica targeting, social media, dumbed down populace … voila.

The minute an American soldier kills a European or the other way around - we are in totally unprecedented and uncharted territory. One thing I don’t think Trump and co have considered is at some point, even if they don’t want to - EU govts will have to act as their people will demand it.
