sounds to me like the real pussy is the conservatives filming our protest just to whine and cry online that we didnt punch you

trust me, we would have, but ya know 🤷 we’re not about to jump some strangers just for filming us. stop bein a pussy and throw punches and we’ll swing back

I was hoping somewhere in all this, I’d find out John Blockley married someone named Marion or something lol. Or had a daughter named that. But alas, all I found was some cool old sheet music and a bunch more questions.

But maybe you’ll find something I didn’t. It was a ride haha.

According to the Harry Ransom Center, all their music rights are now owned by Warner Chappell, so maybe they’d have some historical database? But its so many degrees removed at this point, I highly doubt it.

Still, I hope something in here is a lead to more info. I’ve been at it for hours.

But, according to one source (Irish Sheet Music Archives), he owned a publishing company from 1856 until he died in 1882. Then his son John Thomas Blockley took over, selling it to Ascherberg, Hopwood & Crew at some point. Though that company apparently stopped existing in 1976.

In any case, the Internet Archive has a lot of his sheet music. You just gotta sort through the art to find it (he shares a name with a London artist, who is much younger and died 2002).

He worked alongside other musicians in his time, generally composing and others write lyrics.

1870 date handwritten on the National Library of Scotland’s copy of The Foxhunter’s Galop makes sense. It could be either when it was composed, or just whenever Mrs McGrigor received it. But it fits firmly in the timeline we have of John Blockley’s life, and when he resided in London at that address

Oddly enough though, the prior site says he died in 1882, but this one states he lived at the London address from 1867-1906. So, one of those two sites needs to cite their sources on the dates haha.

Regardless, if the latter one is correct, that means the

It seems John Blockley was a well known composer back in his time, alive 1800-1882. If you think it might be a different man by the same name considering the difference in locations, the National Library of Australia actually cites his London address.

Little-known today, composer and music publisher John Blockley (1800-1882) was well-represented in the drawing rooms of Sydney in the 19th century

John Blockley was a composer, and this sheet music book has the same address on it. I found it on this site: levysheetmusic.mse.jhu.edu/collection/0...

Unfortunately, it lacks a publication date, just like Marion’s work did. But through linking various other sources together, I did find more info.

I had no response for her during the conversation because I did not anticipate having to have my calendar with me. After the appointment, I emailed her about the discrepancy in her statements and the factual dates of events occurring and she didn’t reply. What a piece of shit.
