What are his/her strengths? I taught Art and PSHE across KS2. Two areas in which I had a lot of interest and training. Please do not put unreasonable expectations on them. They are not cheap teachers.

I did the journey from TA to HLTA to unqualified teacher to teacher to SENCO to SLT. Does your HLTA teach across a key stage? If so, train him/her in one or two curriculum areas very well rather than expecting them to teach all subjects unsatisfactorily.

It’s such a relief when you get the diagnosis. I couldn’t understand why I found doing every day tasks so hard. Got diagnosed at 57. My life makes sense now.

What I didn’t do today was be a SENCO. I can’t remember the last time I was ‘just’ a SENCO…

I gave first aid to a child who had cut their head. I did a risk assessment for the chickens we have coming to the Reception class. I spoke to a child who didn’t like anything on the school menu and made her some toast. I phoned a parent who had forgotten to pick their child up.

I have talked to a sobbing colleague about her recent bereavement. I have done a back to work assessment with another colleague who has mental health problems. I have sorted out a fall out between 5 Year 4 pupils. I have met with a parent of a Y1 child who is still in nappies.

I’m one of your Playschool babies! My memories of you are still with me. Hoping 2025 is a fantastic year for you.
