Today's page is from Clever Crow by Chris Butterworth and illustrated by Olivia Lomenech Gill. A perfect blend of text and illustration. The painterly approach works so well here that you can almost feel the texture of the feathers. The sketchy outline gives a sense of the bird's movement.

#primarynonfiction no 7 At today's reading training in Newham we were bemoaning the quality of nonfiction for 3+ so today's spread is the utterly gorgeous A Little World of Ants published by Two Hoots. Child's eye perspective and learning to notice through play. Highly recommended.

#Nonfiction 2 Chris Haughton's The History of Information is a masterpiece of design. Everything shown on a page serves to amplify the content. Plenty of white space. Colour coding that distinguishes between people, places and information. Thoughtful logographics convey complex ideas in one page.
