October '25. Creeping with the Clubs: Pride Alliance is partnering with other COD clubs to have our own Student Life Fair! Come down to room SRC 2000 for free popcorn and treats to learn about over a dozen of the clubs right here on campus! The boxes below feature a purple and orange poster with candy and Jack-O-Lanterns, including the information of where the meeting takes place, in room SRC 2000 on October 27th, 12-2:30 pm. Artist Spotlight: This months artist spotlight is Clara Schiffer! Clara finds their calling in the literary world by making bookmarks. Crafted with care to better your reading experience in style. They will also be tabling at a craft show next month! (See poster below) More information will be given about this event in the November Newsletter. Email: cschiffer99@gmail.com The boxes below features a craft fair advertisement "A Dicken's of a Holiday Craft Show" on Saturday November 15th from 9 am-3 pm. The box on the right shows some of Clara's works, gold and silver metals with jewel adornments in a bird feather shape. Culver’s Fundraiser & T-Shirt Tote Bags: On July 14th, Pride Alliance organized a club activity of upcycling old Pride Alliance t-shirts into some homemade tote bags! On that same day, Pride Alliance partnered with the Culver’s in Wheaton, from 5-8 pm, to fundraise money for the club! Many officers and club members showed up, resulting in a successful fundraiser! The boxes below depict a Culver's table full of a variety of orders curtsy of our Officer team, with special appearance from Glorbo Gleebus! The picture next to that shows one of our club members in a state of distress trying to accomplish the creation of a t-shirt tote bag. Fun Fact!: August 8th is National Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day! Who knew, right? Extra, Extra!: If you’re not prepared for the upcoming fall semester, join us August 11th for a Prep Day during club, 4-5:30!! PFLAG 4th of July Parade: On the 4th of July, one of our Co-Presidents, Dante, and two members, Will and Luke, participated in the Wheaton 4th of July parade with our friends over at PFLAG! The three of them were able to walk the whole parade and hold flags and signs in support! The box below shows a photo of PFLAG's team at the parade, and as stated above, our Co-President Dante and two club members Will and Luke! Wendy's Fundraiser: All day, Wednesday August 20th, Pride Alliance has partnered with Wendy’s, 305 Roosevelt Rd, Glen Ellyn, for our third fundraiser of the summer! We will be earning 30% of sales back, so please make sure to let them know you are with Pride Alliance at College of Dupage!

Hey guys! Here's our July Newsletter! Apologies for it's late release, but please turn your attention to our summer meeting dates and hours, as well as our fundraisers and this months artist spotlight!!

Pride Month: Many members of Pride Alliance met up and attended the Chicago Pride Parade! Mildly temperate weather was disrupted by a cooling sprinkle. Governor J.B. Pritzker was also spotted walking in the parade, pictured below. The boxes below have three pictures from the Chicago Pride parade, one with large balloons spelling 'Chicago' in a rainbow, another spelling 'Pride' and a third candid photo of Governor J.B. Pritzker walking in the parade. Summer Pride Alliance Meetings: Pride Alliance is proud to announce an official meeting schedule for the summer semester! Pride Alliance will be meeting in SSC 1103 every Monday from 4-5:30 pm. Transform, our LGTBQ+ support group, meets immediately after Pride, from 5:30-7 pm. The boxes below feature an updated Pride Alliance poster, including the information of where we meet, SSC room 1103, and the time, 4-5:30pm. Transform happens immediately after in the same room, from 5:30-7pm. Wheaton 4th of July Parade: Pride Alliance has been invited to walk in Wheaton’s 4th of July Parade to represent PFLAG DuPage! The parade begins at Main St. & Parkway at 10am and ends on Front St. in downtown Wheaton around noon. Come walk with us to support and to enhance LGBTQ+ visibility! The box above is a flyer Pride Alliance was sent about the Wheaton 4th of July parade in Wheaton, Illinois, and holds the information given above. Artist Spotlight: This months Artist Spotlight is Bair Wagner! Our artist spotlight of the month, Bair Wagner! Bair uses shading in a monochromatic palette to create introspective and occasionally somber works, bringing emotions to paper, and back to the viewer. Bair also offers occasional item resales, so follow their Instagram to keep up to date with new items! If you’re looking to commission, their contact information is listed below! Fun Fact!: The Sun is 400 times larger than the Moon, but also 400 times as far away, making both objects appear to be the same size in our sky. Oberweis Fundraiser: On Saturday, June 28th, Pride Alliance partnered up with the Oberweis in Glen Ellyn, right by COD’s main campus, for a fundraiser donating 20% of your order, raising us a total of 75 dollars! The box below features a flyer from the Oberweis fundraiser, it's an edited version of the Pride Alliance meetings flyer to depict a sprinkled background and a Neapolitan swirl. Culver's Fundraiser: Join Pride Alliance for their second fundraiser of the summer at Culver’s down in Wheaton, 908 E Roosevelt, on July 14th from 5-8 pm. Happy Pride Month guys! Here's our June newsletter, out on time! What better way to start the month off than checking out all the awesome pride related events happening in the next few weeks!

Pride Month: Happy Pride month! This month, we celebrate our Queer brothers and sisters who paved the way for us to celebrate freely today. Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall Riots of 1969 in New York City, a pivotal moment in the Gay Rights Movement. The riots were sparked by a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar. The box below has a picture of the Chicago Pride parade, with large balloons spelling 'Chicago' in a rainbow. Chicago Pride Parade: For the past several years, Pride Alliance has attended the Chicago Pride Parade as a group. We take the Metra train to Chicago Union Station, then ride the CTA bus to the start of the parade. Chicago Pride is June 29th, beginning at 11 am. It starts at 3900 N Broadway, Chicago, IL. Local Pride Events: June 5th: Pride in Park Ridge 2025 - 5 pm (Hodges Park, 101 Courtland Ave, Park Ridge, IL). June 7th: Elgin Pride 2025 - 11 am (Festival Park, 132 S Grove Ave, Elgin, IL), Des Plaines Community 2025 Pride Celebration - 1 pm (Christ Church UCC, 1492 Henry Ave, Des Plains, IL), Pride at the Plaza - 6-10 pm (Millennium Plaza, 21 S Stolp Ave, Aurora, IL). June 8th: Aurora Pride Parade 2025 - 12 pm (Downtown Aurora, Aurora, IL). June 14th: Pride night at Shedd 2025 - 6 pm & $20 (Shedd Aquarium, 1200 S DuSable Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL). Extra, Extra!: The word 'drag' is supposedly an acronym for a stage direction coined by Shakespeare and his contemporaries meaning 'Dressed Resembling A Girl'. Fun Fact!: The first Chicago Pride Parade, then, the Gay Liberation March, was held June 27th, 1970, one year after the Stonewall riots. Artist Spotlight: Our artist spotlight of the month, Alex Daeschler! Alex is a member of Pride Alliance, as our recently elected Administrative Officer! Alex has found their stride in portraits as an art form, as shown below. If you're looking to commission, their contact information is listed below! Trailgayzers Hike: Several Pride Alliance members took advantage of the gorgeous weather and went on a hike at the Saint James Farm in Warrenville, IL, on Saturday May 31st. A 3 1/2 mile hike to display the beauty of nature, an old fashioned park, and even a horse racing museum! Next to that box is an image of a large tree deprived of leaves, showcasing all the branches. On the path there's two people with their backs turned, and one of them has a trans flag on their back. Leon's Local Events - Express Yourself Fashion Show: An LGBTQ+ and Trans affirming women's clothing business called Paula's in Batavia is hosting a fashion show, allowing attendees the chance to model and participate in a photo shoot. Paula has made and will continue to make several donations toward LGBTQ+ causes. Paula is looking into getting several makeup artists as well as nail artists to add to the desired looks. Below is a box containing the message Paula herself sent out. What to Expect: We're excited to announce an open call for models for a Pride Month photo shoot and fashion show on June 27th! All identities and backgrounds are welcome- no modeling experience needed. Interested in modeling, sponsoring, or volunteering? More details and sign up: https://www.shootwithkatie.com/pride Fashion Show: Join us for an unforgettable fashion show celebrating Pride Month, hosted by Batavia's own Paula's Couture Consignment where you always leave feeling loved and empowered. Models will wear a fun outfit curated and accessorized by Paula to strut down the runway. This year, we're going bigger than ever with models walking the Wilson St. Bridge to exciting music, lights and the iconic Peace on Earth bridge as a backdrop. The fashion show will be held, Friday June 27th from 7:30-8-30 pm. Let's keep the party going afterwards for a fashion show after party at 10 E Wilson St, Batavia, IL at 63rd Apothecary and Studio on the Fox for refreshments, photo-ops and more fun!

Hello! Here's our May Newsletter! Coming out three weeks late, but see what we were up to and make sure to check out all upcoming local events!

Gayla 2025: Gayla 2025 had a stellar turnout with over 60 attendees! With overwhelming positive feedback, we're so excited to return for next year! Thank you to the Pride Officers and the Gayla Committee for making this happen! Tune in next year for another awesome Gayla! The two boxes below have pictures of the Pride Alliance Officers, as well as the Gayla Committee members. The Last Bake Sale: On April 23rd, Pride Alliance had its final bake sale of the season! We've sold out nearly all our hot chocolate and made tons of pre-sale for Gayla! Stay tuned for more next year! May in Queer History: This month, we remember and celebrate queer figures like Michael Dillon (born May 1st, 1915), the first trans man to undergo gender-affirming surgery, Harvey Milk (May 22nd, 1930), the first openly gay man to be elected public to public office in California, and Mabel Hampton (May 2nd, 1902), an activist volunteering in both Black and Lesbian/Gay organizations, a dancer during the Harlem Renaissance. Spooky Summer Prom: Sidecar Supper Club & Beer Garden in Batavia, IL is hosting a Friday the 13th themed Queer Prom June 13th, 2025 from 7pm-11pm. More information to be announced soon! The box next to it holds a digital flyer for the Prom, going further into detail of what will be provided at the event. It also states a ticket price of $33, and a runtime of 4 hours. Leon's Local Events - Birds & Bubbly: Brother Chimp Brewing is holding a "Cheers, Queers!" event in North Aurora on Monday, May 5th from 6:30-9pm. Tamales and food trucks will be present until 7:30. Plainfield Pride & Wild Birds Unlimited is holding a Bird Adventure on Sunday May 18th at the Hammel Woods Kayak Launch (accessible by Route 59 Access, North of Route 52/Jefferson Street) There's an included image of a flyer for the "Cheers, Queers!" event, repeating everything in the included paragraph. Extra, Extra!: Earth Day was April 22nd, and has been observed for over 55 years! Fun Fact! Feed My Starving Children: On February 24th, Pride Alliance once again partnered with the Endowment for Future Generations club to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children! We helped pack food boxes to be shipped out to those in need. The next box has a picture of multiple club members helping pack food at Feed My Starving Children. Virtual Meeting: With unfortunate and chilly weather, Pride Alliance held their first virtual meeting of the semester through Discord on February 12th. Bake Sale: Pride Alliance continues to hold bake sales outside of the SRC cafeteria to fundraise for Gayla, our second chance prom! Stop by for cookies and hot chocolate! Aromantic Takeover Presentation: Aromantic Spectrum Awareness week happens February 16th-22nd, and is intended to celebrate and raise awareness of aromantic spectrum experiences and identities. Aromanticism is a romantic orientation, describing people who experience little, fluctuating, or no romantic attraction. Leon's Local Events - LGBTQ+ Connections: Mental Health support group every 2nd and 4th of the month from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Conventions Psychiatry and Counseling 4300 Weaver Parkway Suite 100-A. Free snacks provided! Extra, Extra!: The St. Patrick’s Day tradition continues as the Chicago River dying takes place Saturday, March 15th! Head to State and Columbus by 10 a.m!
