We're good, thank you. My family is very loving (albeit 5 hours away). Sadly hubby has felt disconnected from family his whole life so it's not new but the VITRIOL his father spewed at him (and then me months later) was too much. Ugghhh. Anyway, thanks for sharing and letting me share too.

Then his sister unexpectedly passed away in Feb 2023 and his family fractured. His parents don't even acknowledge they still have a living child (forget about their 3rd grandchild!) Just ugh.

And he had a younger sister who they GLADLY stepped up for every damn day, including helping raise her kids. When I had my son they said "why did you have a baby if you were just going back to work and letting strangers raise him?" NO offer to help us at all

What the actual hell????? I'm so sorry. My husband actually went no contact with his dad about 2 years ago, and it's helped him immensely. Long story on that one but similar vibes with his dad not wanting to be a parent to him in any way

Parents can be tough 🥺. Unsolicited advice is the worst. But Google and YouTube are amazing Homeowners "How To" guides!! I've managed several things that way (perhaps not as quickly as if I'd had help, but I'm only asking once. Or maybe never.) Just do your best! (as they say in Haikyu)
