Absolutely. It was demeaning to not call him by his correct title. I see it all the time -- usually it's done by men in power to women who have titles they've earned, but are simply referred to as "miss." Here it's done to an intelligent, capable gay man. It's derogatory and disrespectful.

Transportation Secretary Pete... he was not "Mayor" at the time. 🙄
