Kermit having a rough day

I did the London marathon! No Guinness World Record (unless ‘most sweaty person dressed as a cell’ is one) but I finished and it was an amazing day.

There’s still time to donate. For example, you might consider £1 for every litre of sweat I lost (e.g £5)

This weekend is the first official running event in my stem cell outfit.

I’m running Exmouth pie and pasty challenge, as many 5.3km laps in 7hrs and you get a pie at the end.
I’m going to aim for a marathon distance (8 laps) in this - for Anthony Nolan charity: www.justgiving.com/page/cato-fo...

Rustic bread attempt number 5

Look at my lovely horse picture by @mooseallain.bsky.social which came in the post today!

This genuinely made me laugh out loud when I first saw it, and it still does. I think it’s the horse’s expression that I love the most

Today’s making: WONKY BISCUITS

(I wanted to find a recipe that would taste great. So ofc I chose
@nigella.bsky.social’s. I am not disappointed)

I have made my first baguette. It is wonky. The crust is too thick. It’s weirdly matte. But the inside is fluffy.
I’ve got to keep trying

She’s out! But is she any good?
This one I used Allinson’s very strong white bread flour and Doves yeast. I needed a pestle and mortar because we only had big salt in the cupboard 🤷‍♀️. I’m sticking with following Gill Meller’s bread video until mine come out like his (m.youtube.com/watch?v=NTVW...)

Sunday = another bread-attempt day. Got myself some new kit thanks to @dasbarrett.bsky.social for the bread-slashing advice.

I’m giving a white loaf another go. The most unforgiving of all the loaves.
I’m also making a rice pudding at the same time.
Yes lads, it’s 1955 again!

This is beautiful and I’m sending you the deepest of hugs. Here is the baby blanket she made that you gave to us, we still use and treasure it x

Guinness World Records APPROVED MY COSTUME!

This means I am officially running to attempt a Guinness World Record of ‘fastest marathon dressed as a cell (female)’ at London Marathon 2025. Thank you @guinnessworldrecords.com!

I’m doing it for @anthonynolan.bsky.social to raise money and awareness 💚
January 27, 2025 at 7:22 PM
It tastes good and is crusty, but the texture is a bit close. We didn’t let it fully cool (all sniffing and no willpower) so maybe it didn’t rest for long enough, or some other mysterious way of the bread 🤷‍♀️
January 26, 2025 at 4:34 PM
While it cools, we perform the ritual ‘sniffing of the bread’
January 26, 2025 at 4:04 PM
Sunday bread-making time again.

This time attempting a simple white loaf. Which, I think, leaves nowhere to hide.

Unlike the seeded bread I did before where you can hide behind the seeds and stuff, if you’re very small.

This is it before being baked. Now we’re waiting

Well, we are where we are. I’d love to avoid more sewing but I may have to sew letters on. Though it’s difficult to tell what I’m worse at tbh 😩

The designers among you (or anyone with sensitive taste) will be absolutely appalled at that kerning - and rightly so
January 24, 2025 at 8:07 PM
It is taking shape - we’ve got to sew these bits and bobs on and then it’s stencil writing time.
I am already COVERED in fabric pen and I’ve only written 7 words so far, so god knows how the rest will go

We have a nucleus! As a stem cell is like the template for making other cells, this nucleus is going to be a busy fella
January 24, 2025 at 2:53 PM
I am crap at sewing BUT! I’ve been allowed to use scissors so I’m making from felt the things my stem cell can make: platelets, white blood cells, and red blood cells
January 24, 2025 at 2:44 PM
The aim is to make this:
1. Look like a cell
2. Meet Guinness World Record requirements
3. Make it not too terrible to run in

And we have a structure and a clear base! But it doesn’t look like a cell…yet
January 24, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Today is costume-making day for London Marathon. I’m running as a stem cell to raise awareness for @anthonynolan.bsky.social

Stage 1: turn a Christmas pudding outfit into a rigid cell-shape using a hula hoop. Includes swearing at needles. This will be turned inside out (very carefully) in stage 2
