Lastly, if you don't plan on expatriating, you can always move to Puerto Rico, which is a territory with no federal taxes. You have to reside in Puerto Rico for at least 183 days out of the year to qualify.

Next is the Foreign Tax Credit. If you pay foreign taxes, you can claim dollar-for-dollar credits against federal tax liability. This rule is most effective in high tax countries (those with good public services like universal healthcare).

First is the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE). This tax rule is pretty simple: you're allowed to exclude up to $120000 of foreign income from your federal taxes. I have a better idea: sell ALL your stocks! The whole stock market system is a scam propped up by retirement accounts. It's a zero-sum game. Somebody eventually has to be left holding the empty bag. If you really want to take a sledgehammer to all of it, empty out as much of your 401(k) as you can.

Actually, that's the recycling bin which makes sense too. They love to recycle shitty takes over there.
