one of my biggest pet peeves is the way clinicians use “psychosomatic” and “all in your head” as synonymous

use both to mean
imaginary

and imaginary to mean not real, actual, or worth medical attention

another is testimonial injustice = unfairly discrediting a witness (eg to one’s own body)

In order to listen deeply to another in the attuned way a therapist needs to listen, we have to quiet ourselves down inside…There is no way to quickly get over the anxiety of occupying the role of therapist. It takes “time in the chair” - lots of it.
