Kathryn Bigelow’s new film admirably reveals the fragility of nuclear deterrence, but would have had a bigger impact on me pre-Trump, when I still believed the USA would be the most worthy and deserving survivor of a global nuclear holocaust.

Grabbed by unmarked police, pushed into vehicles, deported to camps. The only difference (so far) is how it ended at Magdanek, where I’m visiting, and where the green stains are from Zyklon B.

For anyone, including me, who has jokingly quoted the Shakespearean exhortation to first kill all the lawyers: Sheesh am I glad we have (public service) lawyers today. Especially given the lack of progressive leadership right now, they are all that’s between us and a slam dunk open-and-shut coup.

NYT story about concerns that immigrants drive down wages for natives takes more than a dozen paragraphs to get to the research showing this to be false, and headline is, “Why Trump Allies Say Immigration Hurts American Workers.” Why focus on what’s wrongly believed and bury the actual evidence?
