Comparative drawing of penguins diving under high or low krill availability. Under high krill availability we can see that the penguins dive less deep, for shorter bouts, and with less distance and duration between bouts. The prey capture within bouts remains constant under high and low krill availability though.

Comparison of adaptation rates based on the six definitions (Equations (3-5)). Each panel presents a different definition. The rate of adaptation can be indicated per unit of time or generation, and either without standardization for the strength of selection, with standardization at the level of the vital rate, or with standardization at the level of total fitness.
