Walsingham is probably the oldest pilgrimage site in England. It's a beautiful village. We visited the remains of the Abbey, built on the site of the 11th century Anglo-Saxon shrine, and also the 20th century Anglican shrine, which looks rather Italianate. #norfolkchurches

I visited #norfolkchurch St. Peter Mancroft in Norwich city centre. Impressive #angelroof and impressive church generally. A team was decorating the church for harvest, this is a busy church with regular services and occasional concerts.

Saint Andrew's Church Raveningham is a round tower church well worth visiting. Its door shot to fame after being used to model a door at Norwich Castle, it also has a 15th century font and some attractive Georgian plasterwork in the chancel. In the grounds of Raveningham Hall, occasional services.

Visited All Saints Cockley Cley a couple of weeks ago, one of the #norfolkchurches with a round tower though the tower is in a degraded state. A large number of memorials to the Roberts family of Cockley Cley Hall otherwise the church is not very distinguished and only monthly services in summertime

All Saints King's Lynn, the parish church of South Lynn, is of great antiquity with an anchorhold (where an anchorite would have lived devoting their life to prayer and contemplation) plus a section of medieval painted screen. Still a worshipping community but a building in need of urgent repairs.

St. John the Evangelist in Oxborough is a real one off, part ecclesiastical ruin, part functional church, part ancient monument, with the recently restored Bedingfeld chapel and its 16th century terracotta screenscand tombs. Next door to Oxburgh Hall NT. #norfolkchurches

I visited Weasenham St. Peterchurch yesterday, it stands in a prominent position by the A1065, but sadly appears to be little used for worship. The curtained South transept contains a small chapel plus kitchen area. There are pieces of medieval stained glass in the north windows. #norfolkchurches

St. Peter's Upwell is tucked away in a fenland village but is the most amazing treasure trove. It has a medieval angel roof that can be viewed from close quarters in the balcony. Hundreds of angels in total. #norfolkchurches #angelroofs

A few weeks ago I visited the Roman site Venta Icenorum (big field with some Roman walls) and tucked in a corner is the little church of St. Edmund, Caistor St. Edmund, with tombstones dating back to the 17th century and very faint remains of a medieval wallpainting. Still in use. #norfolkchurches

Lovely Litcham church, visited on a week day, ticks a lot of boxes. Painted screen, box pews, organ loft. The deli nearby is pretty awesome too. #norfolkchurches

Yesterday I visited St John's Mileham, very interesting interior with Victorian box pews, medieval glass and 17th century memorials (I forgot to photograph the west window, but see the photo of St. Agatha, south transept). Lovely welcome from a very helpful gentleman. Recommended #norfolkchurches

All Saints Narborough is a classic #norfolkchurch with a flint exterior and large nave. Some interesting tombs within, possibly most interesting is the memorial to those who were killed fighting in the First World War whilst based at Narborough Aerodrome. Open every day, services two Sundays a month

The Parish church of Saints Peter and Paul, Swaffham #norfolkchurches is a late medieval building with an angel roof, 192 carved over the nave, also a later carving of the Peddlar of Swaffham. Super church, I've visited and found it reasonably welcoming with a great atmosphere.

A look at All Saints East Winch, which I visited on a Saturday as it has very few services now. Imposing from the road and nicely proportioned, the exterior is a mix of carrstone, brick and flint. The interior is still well maintained, with knitted and crafted items for sale in aid of church funds.

This morning I visited St James Castle Acre. Welcome not great (no one said hello, though I did get a hymn book etc) and congregation small and elderly. But worth attending for the beautiful building, with a medieval pulpit and the restored remnants of a rood screen the highlights. #norfolkchurches

Visited St John's church King's Lynn today, not the most interesting architecturally and artistically (built 1846, first new church in Lynn since the Reformation) but I liked the texts written around the building, the friendly atmosphere, and the cake offered with post service coffee.

#northnorfolk was very beautiful this morning, but way too cold. #freezing

This is what the West Midlands looks like on Boxing Day. A bit grim maybe, but quite artistic.

Just my dog enjoying the weekend.

Saturday morning breakfast. I treat myself occasionally because for five months I was homeless (house sale fell through) and apart from a few weeks with friends I was travelling from holiday home to holiday home. Saturday was the usual day I moved on, so there was never time for a good breakfast.
