Took Matilda out for a long long walk north western Il. Went through some fields and down a trail. Certain she smelled everything. 3 hours later she is sound asleep and I have an apple pie baking. Our favorite kind of day

Memories,tears and love for my beautiful boy on his bday. He was wonderful, kind, full of sarcastic humor and a true mommas boy. 6 months from diagnosis to death and only 13 months after the death of his big brother. His buddy Tilda will get a long Scott walk. Fuck cancer. I miss my #fyrescotch

My son and family lived up there. I made the 5 1/2 hour trip often. It was a beautiful drive. Especially the last hour along the lake. Great local restaurants, Friday fish fries, fishing with a local captain. A great place to be

No one works for the Forest Service to get rich. They do it because they understand the importance of our forested land and the part it plays in our very survival. They are the stewards. The maintain it and educate us at the same time. The honor it. The dedicated men and women deserve our thanks

1 year ago I held his hand as he took his last breath. My wonderful boy 6 months from diagnosis to death. Matilda still eagerly listens for his car hoping for her guy, her buddy. We miss him together. Understanding each others pain in a common unspoken language. Time heals nothing.

These 2 work as a team. The dog (Matilda)wakes the cat(Gracie). Then the cat gives me a paw across the face. If I ignore them, the dog whines at the cat who gives me the paw again with claws peeking out. EVERY SINGLE MORNING AT 4AM
