OptumRx is the pharmacy benefits manager for my insurance. I use their home delivery pharmacy because I am mostly housebound. I did this to try to make my life easier, and it has been mostly a nightmare, and has taken more work to get my meds every month than any other pharmacy I've had before.
"OptumRx, the group’s pharmacy benefit manager, along with its two main peers, Express Scripts and CVS Caremark Rx, have pocketed an extra $7.3 billion over cost thanks to price gouging, according to the findings of a report by the Federal Trade Commission."

UnitedHealth, employer of slain exec Brian Thompson, found to have overcharged cancer patients for drugs by over 1,000%
The report is the latest indictment of America’s broken healthcare system.

Let this sink in: there’s not a single state, city, or county in America where someone with a disability who receives SSI can afford a one-bedroom apartment.

SSI payments are capped at $943 a month nationwide.

The average monthly rent is $1,399—or an astounding *148%* of an SSI recipient’s income.
About 7.4 mil Americans benefit from Supplemental Security Income (SSI), but 50% of SSI recipients live below the poverty line.

A stark reminder that the failure to keep pace with the cost of living is a policy choice. @socio-steve.bsky.social rooseveltinstitute.org/blog/50-year...

“Can’t you just rest more?”

“I wish I could lay in bed all day!”

“You’re so lucky I wish I didn’t have to work!”

“Why are you tired you don’t DO anything?”

These are the types of comments disabled people deal with every day.

Then there’s the harmful inner monologue 🧵/1

So much of the fighting I do about disability accommodations involves non-disabled people telling me something that is untrue about the ADA or what is legal or available to me, and me citing the ADA or Fair Housing Act back to them.

And who will report your deviant illnesses to the government? Your doctor will.

I've stayed away from doctors for several years and work with a group of seniors and we help each other.

They can't report what they don't know, can they?
