This looks awesome and fits with what I've been looking for. Side note, whenever I see positions posted a while back, I automatically assume that the "application bucket" must be full and there may not be any point in applying now.

I believe that's what @btolooshams.bsky.social means by COI: by rejecting a paper unduly, they reduce competition if they have submitted to the same conference.

Same here. I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to add a polite comment reminding the reviewes to respond. A colleagues said it might be tacky.

Always did wonder about how Conflict of Interest worked in this setting. Organizers bemoan the lack of reviewers so excluding any potential review source seems a no-no. Whats the winning strategy?

Not sure about AAMAS but the last conference I attended (ITSC), organizers were making this huge deal about not having enough reviewers. Probably everyone's delegating the reviews to their PhD students (which may not be bad per se). Still, hope you pull through in your rebuttals.

Then again, maybe they don't have any other option? Most of the Iranians I've met have been nothing short of wonderful though!

tbf, they are not doing themselves (or their peers) any favor by mass spamming professors' inboxes using bots. I've heard a faculty member claiming that they've received as much as 20 emails per day from the bots.

Haven't read the entire thing but just from your description looks like this is similar in spirit to active learning?

It's ludicrous in this day and age to still have to endorse someone multiple times for multiple venues. Not just gradschool, but applying to different internship opportunities has students hesitating because they don't want to burden their professors with an avalanche of recommendation emails.

I don't know why it still needs to be said that science is a team work and every member role is invaluable.

Oh wow, such a shame. Always used to look forward to it, not that I ever did write anything but still.
