I meant that a small part of those 18mil do wear helmets so should be subtracted, leaving 17.5mil. On the other hand the post was about the common sense of the Dutch, which of course all 18.13mil of us have 🙃

17.5 million people. The road bikers, and a couple of elderly on e-bikes, do wear helmets, and rightly so. The others indeed have no need.

Met a British "avid" cyclist once who was adamant the blue round sign with a white bike meant cycling there was optional and you could also use the main road. Not sure where he got that idea (it's the rectangle "fietspad" sign that has that meaning)
