Sent an email to my MP about the Supreme Court, got this nonsense back. Any suggestions for a response?
Thank you for your e-mail to Lincoln. He has read it and has asked me to reply. Lincoln appreciates that you are concerned about the implications of the Supreme Court decision. It must be stressed that this is not a new law, but instead seeks to clarify a number of misinterpretations of the current law which for example led to the suspension of Nurse Sandie Peggie because she objected to sharing a changing room with Dr Beth Upton, a transwoman who had not had gender reassignment surgery. It is also important to note that the Supreme Court justices emphasised that transgender people already have protections against discrimination and harassment written into the Equality Act. The Minister for Women and Equalities is today making a Statement regarding the Supreme Court decision and it is hoped that she will provide the clarification that many are seeking. Yours sincerely
