Regardless of how much renewable energy is generated in the UK, pricing is always tied to the cost of natural gas. Why is this? It's the way the supply system has been set up. This article explains how.

The UK's national grid is THE reason our electricity is 6x more expensive than, say, Quebec (we currently pay 42c/kWh). Having a national grid in itself doesn't guarantee cheap electricity. It's how the grid is run that matters.
