The Practical Educator Coach
@practicaleducoach.bsky.social
I offer coaching for secondary education teachers, particularly those within years 1-5 of their careers. Please reach out to me to book a 30-minute consultation! We'll determine if we're a good fit and discuss pricing and scheduling: www.practicalcoach.ing
Tomorrow night, I'll be working on the concept of educator identity and classroom presence with the teacher candidates that I teach. It's a bit of a "woo woo" process that I created, but I think it's meaningful!

Year 11 as a high school social studies teacher starts tomorrow. I'm proud of the work that I do and I'm confident in my teaching practice. Yet I still feal just as anxious today as I did the night before Year 1 Day 1.

Wish me luck! To my fellow teachers, I wish you luck as well 🫡

Me (left), my buddy Scott (right), Brent Mydland (cellphone screen) all rocking the blue flannel. Every teacher needs a trusted pal to plan with. Makes the job much easier. Looking forward to starting our refreshed World Studies Unit 1! #Edusky

One of my top tips for teachers is to have a "uniform" for yourself. Mine is a flannel, black t-shirt, black jeans. No decisions or stress about outfits ever. I'm so consistent, one student took pics of me for four years and gave this to me when they graduated. #Edusky

I taught these two really funny and cool kids as freshmen - unbeknownst to me they’ve been collecting images of me at school for four years so they could provide me this collage when they graduated. #EduSky

My 9th graders are putting together brochures for next year’s incoming class. One of the pages is "Teachers To Look Forward To" - I like this student's description of me :D #EduSky

“I didn’t write you a note, but happy Teacher Appreciation Week. I got you something.”

Student noted my love for the Dead and got me this great sticker 🥹 Something to add to my recently started sticker collage… #EduSky #EdChat

Bobby Weir has got me thinking about all the work I put into my unit and lesson plans, haha! I actually don't advocate NOT making unit or lesson plans, but I do advocate making sure they are flexible and adaptable. As teachers, we know that all sorts of stuff happens to affect our plans! #EduSky

In the classroom, you make an endless stream of decisions—big and small—all designed to support key outcomes: shaping the classroom environment, driving student learning, managing behavior, offering differentiated supports, and meeting institutional requirements. 4/4 #EduSky

Often, these experiences mean more work (particularly on the front end). But just as often, they are incredibly rewarding, and can reignite passion for teaching.

This applies to real life too! It’s why I’m learning to skateboard 🛹
