“ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਜਾਏ ਉਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜੰਮੇ ਹੋਣ, ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਲ਼ਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਣ। ਇਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਅਸਲੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਅਕਸਰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਉਂ ਤਰੰਗਿਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਲ਼ ਵਾਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵਾਂ, ਜਾਂ ਪੱਕੀਆਂ ਫਸਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਹੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਗਰਮੀ, ਸਰਦੀ, ਧੁੱਪਾਂ ਤੇ ਧੁੰਦਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਿਚਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵਾਂ। ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਰਾਹ ਹਨ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਹੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਗਦਾ ਤੇ ਧੜਕਦਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
