These rulings reinforce a message that our constitutional complaint challenging the decision of the Slovak law enforcement on non-opening of an investigation based on #universaljurisdiction into Russian war #propaganda will be entertained without any political interference.

The Constitutional Court has also suspended a law abolishing Slovakia's whistleblower protection office. Both rulings send a strong signal that Slovakia upholds the rule of law and protection of fundamental rights ⚖️.

While such an IMF agreement could serve as an important catalyst, a sustainable path forward still depends on structural economic diversification, accountable #governance, and meaningful engagement with #civilsociety to rebuild confidence in the state.

Restoring trust will require more than external financing. Lebanese authorities must demonstrate a credible commitment to reform, strengthen oversight of public institutions, and break from past patterns of #corruption and elite capture to be eligible for the IMF funds.

At the same time, Lebanon faces a weakened but still influential #Hezbollah seeking to reconstitute its strength, shifting Gulf engagement in the region, and ongoing Israeli strikes, which all further complicate Lebanon’s path to economic recovery.

Powerful political and financial networks continue to resist changes that would expose mismanagement or reduce their influence, while “shadow reforms” have seen laws passed but rarely enforced.

While an IMF program could unlock broader international funding, progress has been blocked by the state’s failure to enact required reforms such as banking restructuring, currency unification, and transparency measures.

Despite a new government in #Beirut, the country’s recovery is still constrained by institutional paralysis and public services on the brink of collapse. Sıla Yaren Özçelik’s analysis shows how the #IMF assistance deadlock lies at the heart of Lebanon’s stagnation.

An estimated $11 billion is needed for reconstruction after years of crisis and conflict, yet international support remains stalled amid mistrust in political elites and continued instability linked to regional tensions.
