If you think high-fructose corn syrup is worse than sugar, or artificial sweeteners are harmful, or genetically modified foods are bad for you, or organic vegetables are better for you, you're engaging in the same kind of evidence-blindness that RFK Jr. is.

Not at the same scale! But same idea.

I don't understand the critique here. Klein recognizes that the world is not the way he wants it to be. Many of his critics on the left do not.

If you mean that the right isn't persuadable, I agree that many are unreachable. There are enough moderates you can persuade and win elections with though

You don't have to return; I don't blame you for not wanting to. I am pointing out that there are other reasons a person may spend more time on X than here besides preferring the company of Nazis

The cis ban is dumb and there is still more ideological diversity.

Thoughtful post; I enjoyed it. However, I would say if the only reason you think a center-right pundit would want to spend more time on X than Bluesky is because she enjoys the company of Nazis to progressives, your echo chamber is clouding your thinking.

That hasn't been my experience.

I agree, the bots are bad. Though part of that is X having a much bigger audience.

I don't trust its political stances, but it is useful for providing context I'm unaware of (particularly on non-political posts).

I don't have Nazi friends, I don't follow them, and I rarely run across them on my feed. I get that your experience may be different, though.

I get why people think X is toxic. My experience as someone who mostly lurks and looks at Following is that I can avoid the toxicity and hear from a lot of interesting people with diverse views.
June 9, 2025 at 12:09 AM
There are a lot of people whose thoughts I value that post here. I'd also like to see Bluesky take market share from X, but network effects + value add of Grok/Community Notes + hostility to alternative viewpoints make that unlikely.
June 9, 2025 at 12:07 AM
I'd prefer a site without those people, but I don't run across them much (though being cis has a lot to do with that). There are a lot of other axes of diversity that I value and don't find as much here.

The fact that there is a debate indicates that most here are comfortably on the left.
June 8, 2025 at 11:51 PM
You're better than this kind of strawman. There's more ideological diversity on X than here, and you get to choose who you follow.

But hydro capacity is limited, so reducing usage allows other users to use hydro capacity instead of more carbon-intensive sources.
