Bringing Diaz and Gakpo made a difference in each of the previous seasons. This and last season if we’d brought in players as planned, I’d be agreeing with you. But that failed and we have players in Endo and Quansah who are not entirely trusted by the manager. A player who he trusts would help.

We only lost one game from Jan to March, against Arsenal. We did well without them because of fresher legs, and a bit of luck as the youngsters actually performed better than expected. All the players you mention were back by April, and that’s when results were bad. This before UCL had 8 grp games.

They were in first place in Jan playing and were running key players into the ground. They ran out of legs by April, ‘cause we did not have proper squad depth. It’s the same this year with Salah, Grav and VVD. They’ve played ~2200 minutes already. ~3500 minutes is when players become leggy.

They were this stubborn last January and I’m sure you felt the same back then. How did it end? There’s a difference between being positive vs saying the club can do wrong. Liverpool are in a great position, but will not build from a position of strength, as has been the case since 2020.

Unless he performs at this level, including in the Champions league, l in April and May he can forget Ballon d’Or. Bellingham started brilliantly for Madrid last season, scoring winners in multiple games, but Vinicius became favorite because he performed better end of season.

According fbref the annual wage bill for the 23 man squad is ~125M, even if we assume that bonuses double the wage bill, it’d be 250M. But our overall wage bill is reportedly over 350M per Swiss Ramble. The staff, academy and manager salaries can’t be 100 M can they?

I think it’s the number of games over the years that’s caught up to him. He needs to retire from international football if he wants to play awhile longer.
