Nah. I'm a GenXer who thinks it was the "AI can replace writers" of the 90's. Writers too expensive/annoying? Easy! Stuff a bunch of narcissistic aspiring actors in a house and film the inevitable conflicts.

Someone should write a book about this campaign against established knowledge and why it matters

My teacher in 1983 thought "this whole computer thing might be important, better teach the 3rd graders to program them."

I suspect if you trained an LLM on real-world legal advice, this is exactly what you would get.

It would have trouble with asking useful follow-up questions, but step 1 would be right.

To make it worse: all of the fresh AI-generated content is actively polluting Google's index with truth-shaped text sprinkled with hallucinations & nonsense. It's making Google worse day by day.

The cost is enough of a reason.

It's possible to use that approach to identify some hallucinations. Not that either LLM "knows" anything like a "fact" for another to "agree" with.

You're multiplying two error rates together to make them smaller and let an educated human referee the disagreement.

Batteries are heavy. So if you make a small EV (like a Leaf), it will be heavy for its size, and its range will be short compared to a big SUV. I suspect it's the same forces making smartphones bigger every year.

I had a privileged childhood: my parents had Best of Mancini on cassette. Peter Gunn, Pink Panther, & Baby Elephant Walk all together.

My guess is it's because every so often a government will try to pass a (very stupid) law that Google needs to pay news sites to link to their content. Most recently in Indonesia. Probably testing how it goes if they switch News off regionally.
