I went through the same process.
Now I do a fund raising bike ride (some years, not every year) for the Dartmouth Hitchcock Center in NH.
They do great work and are in my neighborhood.
(And their swag isn't pink!)

They make people feel good about buying a lot of pink crap once a year and pocket the proceeds. As a breast cancer survivor, it makes me sick all over again.
