I have three rules:
We take care of ourselves
We take care of each other
We take care of this place.
Everything in life falls under one of those rules. Voting Blue for example. Retired ECE, artist, vaquera, peaceful human.

Baja California, Mexico
Simple pleasures. I’ve been offline for a bit, soaking up life in real time.

I was so proud of my little 4 yr old mule’s first big kid pack job on NYE. First time off the ranch for him, an 8 hr ride with a vaquero he’s never met. He was great! I followed behind on my mule with the biggest smile on my face.

I’ve been working all week to get my mules to willingly load up into their ganadero. Finally I’m starting to see some cooperation. We need to move them out to the rancho next week, needing to get three at a time to ride together. Wish me luck, I need it.

What do you see when you open your front door?

6 hrs later we’re home, unpacking camping gear and found the víbora under the back seat. Google says it’s a Sonoran Gopher snake. I say it’s lucky it stayed hidden during the drive.

Stopped to move a cold snake off the road. Took a pic just before it spat out the biggest hiss and shot like a projectile into the space between the front seats of our truck. Husband shouting, GRAB IT GRAB IT! Not sticking my hand down there, sorry snake. 6hrs later…

I like to say that the first five minutes of the morning sets the mood for the day. I’m a little late to be your first five, but doing my best to lend a hand.

Smoke signals. I groom these mules every day, but you’d never believe it come dinner time.

The old ranch house may have fallen down but the kitchen is still put to use. Hot water for coffee and a warm tortilla ready for a late riser. Buenos días!

Audiobooks count, correct?
November 23, 2024 at 1:58 PM
Audiobooks count as reading, correct? I LOVE the feel and smell of a real book, but I feel guilty if I sit down with one, thinking of everything else I should be doing. Audiobooks allow me to keep up with chores and “read” at the same time. Muck out the corral, haul water? No problem!

I was invited to ride in the Revolution Day Parade and my mula Dani made friends with this little Pancho Villa.

I spent an hour today in preparation for drinking Copal tea. My days may be busy this weekend, but the nights will be a bit more relaxing.
