Happy #PenguinAwarenessDay! Here are a few penguins to be aware of, photographed two years ago on Saunders Island and Pebble Island in the Falkland Islands..
A rather portly king penguin seen from the front, lying on a sandy beach. Magellanic penguin looking up from a burrow in the ground, surrounded by grass and scattered white feathers. Rockhopper penguins taking a shower from a stream dripping down from rocks above. On top of the rocks are nesting black-browed albatrosses. A lone macaroni penguin surrounded by rockhopper penguin chicks. The macaroni is substantially larger.
