Hang onto your ass! The kids come back after break tomorrow but it doesn’t need to be stressful. Make sure you have the whole day planned and pencil in time to practice and reinforce your class rules, routines, and procedures. Make it fun. #teachers #specialedteachers

The time has come to put your clip charts right in the fucking trash. This shit makes me mental. Moving a kid’s clip to red is a form of public shaming like the pillories of old. Instead, systematically teach and positively reinforce the behavior you want them to demonstrate.

Do new special education teachers feel as unprepared for teaching students in the self-contained classroom as it appears? When asked, many state that they had “no idea” of what to expect. This is absolutely unacceptable. It’s hurting kids. #bullshit #teachereducation #specialeducation #teachers

I coach teachers on classroom management as part of my job. The number of teachers, both gen ed and special ed with no classroom positive reinforcement system and problems with behavior is astounding. Every class needs a way to reinforce good behavior. WTF? #specialeducation #teachers

Let’s talk about student behavior and teacher retention. Teachers are dropping like flies due to stress and often cite student behavior as the primary contributing factor. Why isn’t this part of the national conversation?
