Made a game once, should probably make more. Day job in IT.
Speaking of Frostbite Engine, I wanna share a fun fact about DICE. The DI in DICE stands for "Digital Illusions" The same Digital Illusions who made Pinball Dreams, Pinball Fantasies, and Pinball Illusions in the 90s.

I just love sharing that whenever I can.

I've taken to the (probably unhealthy) assumption that certain things are always AI Generated:

-Weird genre-crossing song covers
-Cosplay Photos of niche characters or jokes
-Any video with a single speaker/actor and a low-res background

I really dislike doing this but, it's right more than wrong.

Are those buttons? I want to push all five at once with one hand. I cannot explain why but, I imagine a flood of happy brain chemicals would soon follow.

Short version: Value is subjective and that's okay.

Long version: I don't mind if games launch at a ridiculously high price as long as the price drops over time (through sales or resale of physical games). Let people with the means and willingness pay more to subsidize prices for everyone else.

It's a bit general of a term for me so it rarely enters my speech. I usually end up referring to the specific difference (e.g. James has an artificial leg).

Come on now, the demo for Bubsy 4D isn't that soulless.

Frankly I'm just happy to see the Jays take top spot in the ALS East and it not result in a player strike.

Political compass tests put me slightly conservative but, I think that's just overlap from how anti-government I am. I am in no ways ever going to fight against equality and freedom of expression.

For whatever that's worth to your question.

Stuff like this makes me miss privately run IRC channels. Something small where you knew the admin and mods personally and they'd fix this easy.

I like to think of it as a way to take away some of his societal power. If enough people question his health it could force more of his attention on trying to prove he's alive. From that point forward, we've taken some of the power back.

One of my favourite related facts is that human nerves can't relay wetness. So if you have a bowl of water that is almost the same temperature as the outside of your skin then all you'll feel is the resistance when you put your hand in.

It's unpleasant but, I know personally I'm trying to figure out where I stand on intentionally annoying characters. They don't have to exist but, when they do, is it always bad? Teddy in Bob's Burgers is outright unpleasant in most scenes while also allowing for unique plot changes.

It was a compromised military asset with admin access to the autonomous military industrial complex. It had to be destroyed and they needed to at least pretend to care about the crew surviving. It'll make sense when 2025... Oh no, we're in the future already.

People often forget that the ability to protest is neutral and that allowing good people (us) protest means that bad people (them) need to be allowed to protest as well. Here in Canada we forgot, then re-learned, this principle over the last 5 years and it caused a lot of political damage.

I hold shift even when capitalising a long string of letters. There's a certain tactile satisfaction I feel to it that I just can't explain. Sometimes there's joy in doing things the hard way.

When I worked at Wendy's, our location used a Henny Penny PFE series pressure fryer. The lid was built like a submarine door, complete with cleat wheel. It was strong and there was no worry about structural failure. Still frightening in a general sense though.

Absolutely true.

But if I want to discourage creation/usage of generative AI that means I should avoid supporting the AI that's associated with it. You can't boycott Starbucks by choosing a different type of coffee from them and you can't discourage gen AI without giving up the tools it's tied to.

One thing troubling me is that I'm a big fan of assistive AI technologies. I regularly use AI tools to translate foreign news stories and summarise long scientific papers. These services are often tied into generative AI ecosystems though. It'll be an annoying sacrifice to make.

Maybe they believe that everything has a deep meaning (e.g. the poet said the trees are yellow, this must mean life should be full of caution) but also that your (the author)'s intent was not immediately apparent. Maybe it felt like failing a book report in middle school.
