I also thought that Vronsky killing that race horse would be more of a foreshadowing of how it would end with Anna, but in the end I didn’t think the metaphor quite fit, as he didn’t just get on to the next thing when she died, it clearly destroyed him too.

For the first part of the book I thought that Kitty and Anna were the opposite poles of the story, but I now think that Levin and Anna are the opposite poles.

Also, whoever said the book should have ended at the end of part 7, I could not disagree more strongly!

Since we both cheated and finished the book I will end the thread here with my closing thoughts.

Man, I just read chapter 16 where he meets the baby and it almost made me cry.

To be clear, I love my kids, but my life is very different! Parents should be honest about that!

“My life didn’t end because we had kids” I shout over my son who is standing right next to me shouting “dad dad dad dad dad” but will have forgotten what he wanted before I finish my sentence and acknowledge him.

Oh yea, he really captured the horror of childbirth, I’m glad my kids were born in an era when I got to go to the birthing classes so I wasn’t totally in the dark about what was happening.
