see i think this is basically right, and the problem Stankokia was explicitly intervening in, and that so many of these albums were responding to in some way or another, which produced these strangely specific kinds of sounds that get narrated away the next year. 2000 is the MOST one instant in time
I worked my way through the @bestalbumbrackets.bsky.social 1989 list already and was surprised by all of the innovation and subgenre birth. 2000 didn't move music forward like 1989.
