All in all, I think that this sort of comment is just rather dismissive of that reclamation. I think trans people should be allowed to enjoy things and events that don't portray transness well...

It may have aged poorly in terms of how transness is considered, yes, but it was undeniably important and influential on a variety of queer communities, and I'd argue a great deal of reclamation has occurred for trans people regarding the musical. (1)
