@possibilize (x) . Strange things happen at sea when you run a fleet of robot submarines in the Indian, Pacific & Southern Oceans. All opinions my own
its quite weird you don't need to get it "right" just close to right. then the fan speeds up above the unhelpful resonance and all is good. (its like it just needs get over a hump and then its away ) if you have bluetack and a coin you can do it now

ps if its bad you might need 20c
December 22, 2025 at 11:10 AM
single 10c piece bluetack . try it half way along each blade (on top) . once you find the best blade then try varying the radius closer to the edge or closer to the center . ( oh yes clean the fan first if its dusty)

Sting: 🎶 I can hear the old man laughing, "what use is a used up world and why could it be worth having"

i fear we are living the "big filter" hypothesis for the Fermi paradox

perhaps "people are unnecessarily weird" and Facebook marketplace is just where the rubber hits the road for you

It's "musical chairs" the chairs are O&G assets and the players are O&G companies. As each "chair" falls the cost of production for the "market" drops (because expensive players are out) last man standing defines the future fossil price. Ie it will get harder for Renewable Energy but that's ok

I love those early prophetic insights. Back in the early 2000s at my uni i went to a talk on renewable energy storage

The speaker said every household already has 3-4 days worth of energy storage ???

It's just tied up in the fuel of their car!

but when cars are electric...

its now called V2G

yes, thanks

that looks like it

Guess i'll have to keep looking for a bird orchid

We saw quite a few different orchids on a very enjoyable, short walk in the Jarrahdale. most of them were common favourites but i expect someone who has their "eye in" would have seen heaps more.

I think i saw one of those (or similar) unfortunately it was a little windy so hard to get a good shot (with by phone) from the angle i took the photo you cant really see the upper green bit but from memory it looked very similar (Jarrahdale , mundlimup timber trail)

you could drive to the coffee shop or cycle.

if you drive you need roads and car parking (at both ends) and petrol stations and ports and ...

if not for cars the coffee shop would be closer...

but we can consume less and maintain our "standard of living" by consuming more efficiently (much more efficiently in fact) its just that, currently, the agenda is controlled by those who profit from our wasteful energy habits. cycling is a great transport efficiency example

Still like that in far north Queensland. My colleague woke at 4:30 am in perth for a 6am flight. Connected in Brisbane then to Cairns (5pm) ahead of a 6am start to drive to weipa to deploy an ocean glider. While he was in transit our charter boat operator cancelled. I notified him on arrival....

There should be an investigation into why the ABC & JCU platformed early (obviously false and easily fact checked) anti renewables activism by Steven Nowakowski

ha ha you go to windfarms on holiday? I bet your partner loves that! I'm only saying because i do too. I went to a lovely enercon one in Austria and got to visit the "observation deck" an early enercon option that placed a doughnut shaped glass enclosed platform below the nacelle

That's awesome. Got s touch of the slapstick silent movie about it. Speed it up a little and make it black and white. I love he got away by bike where those guys probably had half a dozen trucks between them .

Fusion powered electricity absolutely will power the world! Fusion power beamed wirelessly from space is already the cheapest and fastest growing energy sector ,😉

you can't get more bland and geologically stable than Birdsville in outback Australia . but but at 1.3km deep and drawing on hot groundwater, not "deep hot rocks", i don't think it qualifies.
also it has since been decommissioned in favor of solar (whose resource is plentiful at Birdsville
Australia’s Birdsville geothermal power station will see upgrade
The government of Queensland in Australia, is investing up to AU$ 4.3 million (US$ 3.4 million) to the upgrade of the Birdsville Geothermal Power Plant. It is a low-temperature plant and currently the...

if you aim is to say "climate change is bad, this is whats happening isn't it shit" then its ok to have the right answer for the wrong reason . but if you seek to intervene or predict whats happening next then if one doesn't understand the mechanism one may be in for an unexpected outcome

Remember when you had two punctures in a row and i noticed your puncture resistant tyres and said perhaps things are happening differently. i explained how to test and you found the dislodged rim tape.
