"After my initial trepidation, I was surprised how quickly our car trips became bike rides. Like learning to drive, it took some time to learn how the bike steered, but it soon became our go-to ride for short trips. Forgoing a second car may have been the reason we bought it, but it was simply […]

So what do people think of the draft streetscape plan for Carlisle St? The new plantings and pedestrian improvements look great, but they seem to have forgotten that people ride on this street. It's hard to tell from the plans but it looks like they may have put […]

Regarding the proposed ban on e-bikes on trains: we're collecting community submissions to the consultation https://www.ppbug.org/bug-blog/2025/8/21/community-submissions-on-the-proposed-ban-on-e-bikes-and-e-scooters-on-public-transport

Community submissions on the proposed ban on e-bikes (and e-scooters) on public transport
We are collecting some submissions from the consultation on the Conduct on Public Transport Regulations. The consultation period ended on 18th August, but we encourage you to let your MP know how it will affect you and the people you travel with. To add your submission here: either leave a link in comments, or email it to portphillipbug@gmail.com. Obscure any personal details you don’t want to share. Nomads Outdoor Group “It’s like using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut: regulatory overkill that punishes responsible e-bike riders. The vanishingly small risk of an e-bike battery fire is part of a bigger problem and a bigger picture, which should be addressed holistically.” Port Phillip Bicycle Users Group. “We have social rides for people using regular bikes or e-bikes, and often include a public transport component. The proposed ban would exclude e-bike users from some of our activities.”
