Two things can be true: 1.) The Game Awards are meaningless and we shouldn't take them all that seriously. 2.) Award shows of its scale DO rewrite the mainstream history of the art form, whether they deserve to or not, and its okay to care that it's so thoughtless despite having that responsibility.

I also refute the notion it'll be used in all scriptwriting, VO, or illustration, inevitably. It feels like the next NFT, something everyone is pushing and will fall apart sooner or later.

(And yes I know Nintendo isn't great... but a lot of that is consumer side. In terms of employee treatment, they're pretty good. And looking at the majority of their output IDK how someone could say they're putting profits before creativity. For better and worse they're not.)

Yeah, my backlog is so long I could probably play only old games and never run out.
Besides that, several companies - INCLUDING FUCKING NINTENDO - have said they have no interest in using GenAI. There will absolutely be new games to play, it just will be from devs who put artistry before money.
